love, loss, and daring to love again

From Sheila

i love love songs. i love catchy melodies. i love a good guitar riff. i love a beat that moves you. and most of all, i love lyrics that tell a story—the kind that stay with you long after the song fades.

i've been writing in some form for as long as i can remember. in middle school, my best friend and i had a poetry book we passed back and forth, filling it with our deepest thoughts and wildest dreams. oh, what i’d give to flip through those pages now!

music has always been my heartbeat. growing up, my sister and i could belt out pat benatar like we were born for the stage. i believed in the magic of love, in the stories songs told—the kind that promised forever. and yet, heartbreak found me again and again, leaving little echoes in my heart.

but there’s something irresistible about falling—that rush of emotions, like a warm fire on a cold night, fireworks painting the sky, the flutter of something real. love keeps pulling me back, like a moth to a flame, burned by desire.

and so, i write.

my songs are the sparkles and dust of those echoes—fragments of love, loss, hope, and everything in between.

they say to of loved and lost is better than to have never loved at all...is that the same for writing? to of wrote and never been read is better than to never have wrote at all? or to produce a song and never let it be heard...

and so, i share

thank you for reading this, for listening, and for daring to love again
